The automotive industry is a key sector in Vietnam's industrialization and modernization process. In recent years, Vietnam's automotive industry has been a priority for development. After 17 years of organization, the Vietnam Hanoi International Commercial Vehicle, Motorcycle and Components Exhibition (NAL) has become an international NAL exhibition event. The exhibition is regarded by industry experts and businesses as a professional NAL connecting the Vietnamese automotive, motorcycle and related industries market with global partners through renowned event companies. The Vietnam Hanoi International Commercial Vehicle, Motorcycle and Components Exhibition is Vietnam's largest automotive, motorcycle and related industry exhibition, held annually. Due to the pandemic, the 16th edition was held in 2019, and the 17th edition will be held in 2024. The Vietnam Auto Expo 2026 – the 19th International Commercial Vehicle, Motorcycle and Components Exhibition – will return on a larger scale, bringing cutting-edge technologies and new experiences. This exhibition will showcase the latest models, electric vehicles and smart mobility trends, as well as thousands of products and solutions from hundreds of domestic and international brands. Serving as a strategic bridge between businesses, consumers and global partners, the exhibition company pays tribute to sustainable development and internationalization in Vietnam's transportation sector. This exhibition aims to launch new products, promote in-depth cooperation in production, supply and services, expand cooperation and technology transfer, assist enterprises in building brands and expanding markets, and provide guidance for Vietnam's future strategy, particularly in the transportation sector. Data from the previous exhibition (18th edition, 2025): Total exhibition area: 10,000 square meters; Number of booths: 350; Number of visitors: Over 9,000; Number of international exhibitors; Number of non-legal buyers: Over 1,500.

Vietnam Market Analysis I: The Automotive Sector. Vietnam has a total population of 99.5 million, characterized by a predominantly young demographic. Its economy is developing rapidly, having maintained a sustained long-term growth rate of 6% to 7% in recent years. The country's total volume of imports and exports reached $732.5 billion, while its GDP totaled $409 billion. China remains Vietnam's primary source for imports; in 2022, the total trade volume between China and Vietnam reached approximately $225 billion. Of this figure, Vietnam's imports from China amounted to roughly $142 billion, establishing China as the leading supplier for Vietnam's import market. Currently, approximately 80% of the parts and supplies supporting Vietnam's automotive, motorcycle, and electric vehicle sectors are sourced via imports-with 60% of these imports originating from China. The number of registered vehicles in circulation in Vietnam exceeds 5 million. It is projected that between 2030 and 2035, Vietnam will enter a phase of mass motorization and modern transportation infrastructure development, during which car ownership is expected to increase by a factor of three to five. Total motorcycle ownership approaches 70 million units; while the majority of these vehicles are foreign brands, the majority of their spare parts are imported from mainland China. There are currently over 3 million two-wheeled and four-wheeled electric vehicles on the market, with locally assembled brands enjoying strong sales performance. Calls to ban motorcycles in Vietnam's major cities have persisted for some time, prompting the introduction of various incentive policies designed to drive the "fuel-to-electric" transition within the two-wheeled vehicle sector. It is projected that the market share of motorcycles will continue to grow through 2025, with the proportion of vehicles transitioning from gasoline to electric power expected to increase by 20%. Although the electric two-wheeled vehicle market (referred to in Vietnam as "electric motorcycles") has entered a saturation phase, total annual demand is still expected to exceed 2.7 million units between 2023 and 2030. As Southeast Asian nations ease entry restrictions and consumer expectations rise-bolstered by robust economic growth-the automotive, motorcycle, and electric vehicle industries are poised for continued expansion.
